The leaving gift that lasts.
Forget the card that ends up in the bin. Give your colleague something they'll keep: recommendations from the whole team, collected in secret 🤫. And it's free.
Create a Leaving PackYou'd like to do better than a bottle and a card.
When someone leaves, everyone wishes them luck. But nobody gives them the thing that would actually help next: written recommendations from the whole team, ready for their next interview. That's what we've built.
How it works
- STEP 1 · 30 seconds
Start the Leaving Pack
Your colleague's name and a photo. That's it.
- STEP 2 · one link to share
Invite the team
Everyone writes their recommendation in secret. Stuck for words? The AI assistant helps. About five minutes each.
- STEP 3 · over to you
Hand it over on their last day
They read every recommendation in one go, and keep them on their profile for the rest of their career.
A card? A whip-round?
Both are kind, but neither says what your colleague brought to the team.
✍️ The leaving card
- A few words scrawled in a rush. Nice, but not a real recommendation.
- It has to be passed round the office, so anyone working from home or at another site misses out.
- Ends up in a drawer, forgotten within weeks.
💸 The whip-round
- The thank-you boils down to an amount.
- People remember the gift, rarely what each colleague thought of them.
- Leaves no record of what they did, what they're good at, or the difference they made.
🎁 The Leaving Pack
- Proper written recommendations: their role, their strengths, the difference they made.
- All online, so everyone can join in, wherever they work.
- Saved to their professional profile, and useful for the rest of their career.
- Free for you, for everyone who writes, and for them.
- And if the team wants to chip in for a gift too, you can add a whip-round to the pack.
Leaving gifts for colleagues: your questions answered
Will my colleagues actually take the time to write?
The AI assistant asks the right questions, so all they have to do is answer in their own words. Anyone who'd rather write it themselves can skip the chat.
What if the person leaving isn't on Take Your Skills?
No problem. We set up their profile when you hand over the gift. They can fill it in or delete it afterwards: it's up to them.
Is it really free?
Yes. Take Your Skills is free for everyone: you as the organiser, the colleagues who write, and the person who receives it. No ads, no hidden paid tier.
How long does it take to put a Leaving Pack together?
We'd suggest two weeks, so everyone has time to write. But it works in 24 hours too, if the leaving date has crept up on you.
What's a good leaving gift for a colleague?
A card, a bottle or a voucher are lovely on the day, then quickly forgotten. A Leaving Pack gathers recommendations from the whole team: your colleague reads them all at once, then keeps them on their Take Your Skills profile for the rest of their career. You can still add something to unwrap: the pack can hold the link to an online whip-round.
Does a Leaving Pack work for a retirement?
Yes. Their colleagues' recommendations become a written record of a whole career, to look back on whenever they like. And they come in handy if a new chapter follows, from consultancy to volunteering.
Do you need a whip-round for a leaving gift?
It's not what matters most. What really touches someone who's leaving is what their colleagues say about them, and a Leaving Pack gathers those words for free. If the team wants to chip in for a gift too, set up an online whip-round and paste its link into the pack.
Can you do a Leaving Pack if the team works remotely?
Yes, it all happens online. Share the Leaving Pack link by email, Slack, Teams or WhatsApp, and everyone writes their recommendation from their laptop or phone. On the day, the person gets their Leaving Pack by email, so you can open it together at a virtual leaving do.
Do you need an account to take part?
Yes, you'll need a free account to create a Leaving Pack or to write in one. You sign in with a code we send by email. Each colleague writes one recommendation per Leaving Pack, and everything stays under wraps until the day.
