Privacy policy

In force since 17 September 2026. Any question about your data: contact@takeyourskills.com.

1. Who we are

Take Your Skills is an online service published by Fleck One (a French simplified joint stock company with share capital of €1,000, Paris trade register 109 829 895, registered office at 173 rue de Courcelles, 75017 Paris), the controller of your data. It lets you bring together and make the most of the professional recommendations you receive from colleagues. See the legal notice for details.

Contact for any question relating to data protection: contact@takeyourskills.com

2. Data we collect

  • Account data: primary email address, first name, surname, town or city, job title, profile picture (optional).
  • Alternative email addresses: work or personal addresses added to make it easier to receive recommendations.
  • Recommendations: the written content of the recommendations received and given, their status (public or private), and metadata about how they were written.
  • Personality at work test (optional): if you take the test, we record your answers to each situation, the date and the version of the questionnaire, and the result calculated from those answers. That result includes your archetype, its four letter code followed by an A or a T, and your percentage positions on each dimension and each facet. We also record whether you chose to display that result on your profile. If you answer the question “Does this portrait sound like you?”, we record your answer and, if you write one, your comment.
  • Audience measurement (only if you have consented through the cookie banner): pages visited, actions taken (writing a recommendation, and so on), through PostHog (hosted in the European Union, IP address anonymised).
  • Technical data: session cookies (authentication), anonymised error logs (Sentry), to keep the service running and secure.
  • Reason for deleting your account (optional): if you fill it in when deleting your account, the free text you enter is kept to help us improve the service. That field is strictly optional.

3. Why we collect this data

  • To provide the service: create your profile, receive and give recommendations, identify you.
  • To contact you: sending transactional emails (login codes, notifications about recommendations received).
  • To tell you what is new: sending emails presenting new features of the service, only if the “New features” setting in your notification preferences is switched on. Each of those emails contains an unsubscribe link.
  • To improve the service: anonymised audience measurement, to understand which features are used (only with your consent).
  • To keep the service secure: detect errors, prevent abuse.

We neither sell nor rent your data, we display no advertising and we do not use your data to send you third party commercial offers. The only profiling we carry out is the calculation of the personality at work test result, which you choose to take, described in the next section.

4. The personality at work test

What the test does. The test presents you with situations from working life. Your answers are processed automatically to calculate a result describing work preferences. That calculation constitutes profiling within the meaning of the General Data Protection Regulation. It gives rise to no decision on our part concerning you: we do not rank, filter or search for anyone on the basis of that result.

That result is indicative and is based solely on your answers. It is neither a diagnosis, nor a medical or psychological assessment, nor a measure of your skills or of your suitability for a role.

Why we process this data, and on what basis.

  • To calculate, record and show you your result, and to let you retake the test: this processing is necessary for the service you have asked for. Legal basis: performance of the contract.
  • To display your result on your profile: at the end of the test, your result is displayed on your profile, and the result page asks you straight away, once you have seen it, whether you wish to keep it displayed or make it private. You may change your mind at any time, in the same way as you choose to make a recommendation public. Legal basis: performance of the contract, at your request.
  • To shade your professional portrait: if your result is displayed on your profile, it is used to shade the wording of the portrait generated by artificial intelligence. That portrait remains built from the public recommendations you have received, and from those alone. If you make your result private or delete it, your portrait is regenerated without it. Legal basis: performance of the contract.
  • To improve the questionnaire: we analyse test answers and feedback on the portrait in statistical form, to improve the situations offered and the texts. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in offering a good quality test. You may object by writing to us.

Who can see your result. When you display it, your result is visible to anyone who views your profile, including without an account, and may be picked up by search engines. It also appears in the PDF document of your profile, in the activity feed of the people you are connected with on Take Your Skills and in the “In your network” list of those people. When it is private, it is shown to you alone. Our team may access it for support and for the security of the service.

Making your result private, or deleting it. From your profile or from your result page, the “…” menu offers two actions. “Make private” removes your result from your public profile, from your PDF document, from the activity feed and from the “In your network” list of your connections. Search engines may take some time to update their own pages. “Delete my result” erases your test sittings, your feedback on the portrait and the displayed result, without deleting your account.

Your comment on the portrait. The comment field is optional and limited to 2,000 characters. Please do not enter information about your health or other sensitive matters there: it is of no use to us.

5. Processors

  • Supabase (hosted in the European Union): database and file storage.
  • Vercel (United States, frontend, edge): hosting of the application.
  • Brevo (European Union): sending transactional emails.
  • PostHog (European Union): audience measurement, only with your explicit consent.
  • Sentry (Germany): monitoring of technical errors, IP addresses anonymised, sensitive data filtered out.
  • OpenAI (United States): assisted generation of the content of recommendations when you use the artificial intelligence writing feature, and generation of your professional portrait. For writing, the text you enter passes through their servers. For the portrait, we send the text of the public recommendations you have received together with the first name and surname of their authors. If your personality test result is displayed on your profile, we also send the code and the name of your archetype and the labels of your most marked traits. We never send your email address, nor your test answers, nor your percentages.

6. Transfers outside the European Union

Two of our providers are established in the United States: OpenAI and Vercel. Transfers of data to those providers are governed by the safeguards provided for by the General Data Protection Regulation: the European Commission’s adequacy decision for providers certified under the European Union to United States Data Privacy Framework, or the standard contractual clauses adopted by the European Commission. You may obtain a copy of those safeguards by writing to us.

7. Cookies

  • Essential cookies (always on): authentication, security, display preference. No consent required (exemption under article 82 of the French Data Protection Act).
  • Audience measurement cookies (opt in): PostHog, only if you have accepted through the banner. You may change your choice at any time through the Manage my cookies link in the footer.

8. Retention periods

  • Active account: for as long as you use it.
  • Deleted account: immediate erasure of your personal data (email address, profile, settings). The recommendations you have given remain visible on the profiles of their recipients, but are anonymised (author = “Deleted user”). The optional reason for deletion that you may have given is kept for 24 months in order to improve the service.
  • Personality at work test: your result, your test sittings and your feedback on the portrait are kept for as long as your account exists, or until you delete your result. They are all deleted when you delete your account.
  • Consent cookie: 13 months maximum (CNIL recommendation).
  • PostHog audience measurement: 12 months.

9. Your rights

Under the GDPR, you have the following rights over your personal data:

  • Access: see all the data we hold about you, including your personality test answers and the calculated results.
  • Rectification: change your profile from the Settings page. You may also retake the personality test at any time: your new result replaces the old one on your profile.
  • Erasure: delete your personality test result from the “…” menu of your profile or of your result page (the “Delete my result” action), or delete your account from the settings (the “Delete my account” button).
  • Portability: receive your data in a readable format on request.
  • Objection and withdrawal: make your personality test result private at any time; object to the use of your answers and your feedback to improve the questionnaire, by writing to us; withdraw your consent to audience measurement at any time; unsubscribe from emails about new features through the link in each of them or from your notification preferences.

To exercise these rights, write to us at contact@takeyourskills.com. We undertake to reply within one month at most of receiving your request, in accordance with article 12 of the GDPR. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the CNIL in the event of a dispute.

10. Changes

Any substantial change to this policy will be communicated to you by email and will give rise to a request to renew consent for non essential cookies.

11. Language of this policy

This policy was originally drafted in French. This English version is provided for convenience. In the event of a discrepancy between the two, the French version is the reference version. This does not deprive you of the mandatory protections afforded by the law of your country of residence.
